1. Dr. R.W. Tenga, LL.B, LL.M (Dar) LL.M, J.S.D. (Cornell, N.Y.)

The firm’s Chairman and an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, and Courts subordinate thereto. Accomplished Legal practitioner, researcher, and academic. He has, individually or with Law Associates (Advocates) been Consultant/Legal adviser for the following major projects:

1. Legal Consultant to the National Property Formalisation Programme (MKURABITA) on Land Law (Conveyancing, Leasing, Mortgages and Registration of Properties) under the Institute of Liberty and Democracy (ILD) led by Professor Hernando de Soto of Peru.

2. External Consultant for the Evaluation of CORDS Integrated Development Programme covering the Districts of Longido and Monduli in Arusha Region and Kiteto District in Manyara Region on Formalisation and Issuing of Land Titles to the Pastoral Maasai and Land Use Planning covering some 83 Pastoral Villages (Jan – March 2006)

3. Consultant to the Zanzibar Government on Trade Liberalization and Free Port Legislation.

4. Consultant to the Presidential Land Commission.

5. Legal Advisor to the listing of Tanzania Breweries IPO on the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE)

He has undertaken legal commissions in the formation, mergers, acquisitions and restructuring of various companies both private and public. His field of interest is Land, Company, and Finance, banking, conveyancing and tax law. He led the firm in the listing of Tanzania Breweries Limited at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and the listing of South African Breweries at the London Stock Exchange.

Dr. Tenga was for many years part-time Lecturer in Transportation Law at the National Institute for Transportation. He designed the curriculum for Transportation Law, which is used by the Institute for Advanced Diploma Course.

 

2. Mr. S.A. Mapande, LL.B. (DAR), LL.M. (Wales); Maritime Law (Cambridge).

A Senior Partner and an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, and Courts subordinate thereto. He specializes in Mercantile Law, Transportation Law, and Banking Law, tax Law, Maritime Law, International Law and Labour Law. Involved in Law of Conveyancing, Company Law and Maritime Law. He worked as a Corporation Secretary (Assistant Managing Director) for the National Shipping Company where he was involved in industrial relations and disputes, development of Maritime Laws and negotiations of bilateral agreements, insurances, maritime conventions and corporate matters and company secretarial practice. He participated in the public listing of Tanzania Breweries Limited at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and the listing of South African Breweries at the London Stock Exchange. He was in the team that advised on the merger between Tanzania Breweries and Kibo Breweries Limited. Mr. Mapande has extensive experience in drafting development agreements; he was responsible for the development agreements that led to the successful construction of Holiday Inn Dar es Salaam and Shoprite Checkers, Dar es Salaam. He has also drafted constitutive documents for Collective Investment Schemes for clients, and Trust Deeds.

Mr. Mapande has also been involved in Mining Law where he has advised various clients on mining rights and intervened on behalf of Clients with the Commissioner for Mines. He has also carried out due diligence on mineral rights on behalf of mining houses. He also advises lenders on the potential use of mineral rights as Security for loans. He is also a UNEP consultant on environmental standards. He also c-drafted the EWURA and SUMATRA statutes along with with Professor Ashley Brown of Harvard University.

 

3. Mr. Cuthbert Tenga, LL.B (Dar), LL.M (Canada).

The Managing Partner and an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, and courts subordinate thereto, specializing in Court work in all matters of Criminal and Civil Nature (Litigations), Law of the Sea, Labour and Environmental Law. Worked as an Advocate for Tanzania Legal Corporation and later as Corporation Secretary of Arusha International Conference Centre, where he was involved in industrial disputes, negotiation of agreements, and general corporate and company secretarial matters.

 

4. MR. Rosan Mbwambo, LL.B (Dar), LL.M (Dar)

A Partner and an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and courts subordinate thereto. Specializing in all matters of Civil Nature (Litigations), Labour law, land law, company law, bankruptcy, insurance law, and Media law, Mining law, banking law, conveyancing, receivership, environmental law, International trade, tax and civil law. He is also one of the foremost experts on arbitration law and procedure. Currently he is a resource person in Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators arbitration courses programmes. He is associated with groundbreaking decisions in his area of specialisation.

   

5. MRS. Nelly Godlays Moshi, LL.B (Hons) (Dar)

An Associates Partner and an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, Specializing of Urban Planning Laws, and Immigration law, banking law, insurance law, conveyancing, land law, company law and all matters of criminal and civil litigations. Her grasp of the Labour Laws, is wide and comprehensive.

 

6. Mr. Aloys Bahebe, LL.B (Hons) (Dar)

An Associate Partner and an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania together with Courts Subordinate thereto. specializing in all matters of Regulatory Laws,Telecommunications Laws, Energy Laws, Banking and Corporate law and Litigation. He worked as the Legal Counsel for Celtel Tanzania Limited where he was involved in all in-house legal support services to the Company. He was involved in a task force for making Tanzania Telecommunications Regulations of 2005. He was also the local coordinator of a major syndicated loan taken by CeltelTanzania Limited which involved Seven Local Banks andTwo Foreign Financial Institutions (FMO and Standard Bank, Plc).

 

7. Mr. Beatus Malima, LL.B (Hons), LL.M (University of Dar es Salaam)

An associate and Advocate in the firm who also lectures at the University of Dar es salaam Faculty of Law and also a part time lecturer at the Law School of Tanzania. Was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 2007. He is vastly experienced and I especially adept at handling litigation and conveyancing matters including corporate, commercial, arbitration, procurement appeals. Mr. Malima has developed formidable skills in labour laws, tax laws, criminal and civil litigation.

 

8. Ms. Tausi Abdallah, LL.B (Hons) (University of Dar es Salaam)

She joined Law Associates as a trainee to become an advocate and now associate partner after practising for a period of six years. She works on matters that involve commercial and company law, banking law, labour and litigation.

 

9. Mr. Possi Abdallah, LL.M (University of Dar es Salaam)

An associate and Advocate in the firm who joined the firm from the Tutorial Assistant Institute of Judiciary Administration Lushoto Tanga where he was a lecturer. He assists clients in various practice areas which include Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Service and Trade Marks, Copyright, Patents, Industrial Design Rights, Commercial Litigation and Arbitration.

 

10. Ms. Veronica Hellar, LL.B (Hons) (University of Dar es Salaam)

An Associate and Advocate in the Firm who completed her LL.B in 2005 from the University of Dar es Salaam and admitted to the roll of advocates in 2008. She has wide range of experience in civil and commercial litigation and she has highly specialized on labour matters.

 

11. Grace Kazinyoro, LL.B (Hons) (University of Dar es Salaam)

An Associate and Advocate in the Firm who completed her LL.B in 2006 and recently admitted to the Roll of Advocates. She has wide range of experience in conveyancing and business registration. She has highly specialized on Intellectual properties, employment and environmental laws.

 

12. MR. Edward Lisso, LL.B (Hons.) (Dar)

An Associate and Advocate. Previously a Resident Magistrate, heis extremely conversant with all the branches of procedural law.He participated in the Public Listing ofTanzania Breweries Limited with the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and the listing of South African Breweries with the London Stock Exchange. He is thePractice Manager.
